By using and accessing any of the Services, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy and understand the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. Where consent is required by law, we will request it through an appropriate consent mechanism.
Personal Information We Collect or Process
When we use the term "personal information," we mean information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to you or another person. How We Use Your Personal Information
Depending on how you interact with us or which Services you use, we may use personal information for the following purposes:
Provide, Tailor, and Improve the Services. We use your personal information to provide the Services, including to perform our contract with you, process payments, fulfil and deliver orders, remember preferences and items of interest, send account and order notifications, process purchases, returns, cancellations, or other transactions, create and manage accounts, arrange shipping, support authorized returns, enable reviews, and create a customized shopping experience. This may include using personal information and machine-learning tools to improve support, product recommendations, operations, fraud detection, and the Services.
Marketing and Advertising. Subject to applicable consent and opt-out requirements, we may use personal information for marketing and promotional purposes, such as sending communications by email, text message, or postal mail, measuring campaign performance, and showing online advertisements for products or services on the Services or other websites and apps, including based on items previously purchased, viewed, or added to a cart.
Security and Fraud Prevention. We use personal information to authenticate accounts, provide a secure payment and shopping experience, detect, investigate, prevent, or take action regarding possible fraudulent, illegal, unsafe, or malicious activity, protect the public, enforce our policies, manage disputes and chargebacks, and secure the Services. If you register an account, you are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and should not share them with others.
Communicating with You. We use personal information to provide customer support, respond to requests, maintain our business relationship, provide tracking information, and administer complaints, returns, refunds, or disputes.
Legal Reasons. We use personal information to comply with applicable laws, accounting and tax obligations, court orders, regulatory obligations, valid legal process, law-enforcement or government requests, litigation, civil discovery, and to enforce or investigate potential violations of our terms and policies.
Legal Bases Where the GDPR Applies
Where the General Data Protection Regulation or comparable European law applies, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases: performance of a contract, steps taken at your request before entering a contract, compliance with legal obligations, our legitimate interests where those interests are not overridden by your rights, protection of vital interests where relevant, and consent where consent is required. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.

We do not sell personal information for money. Certain privacy laws may define targeted advertising or some data-sharing arrangements as a "sale" or "sharing." Where such definitions apply, you may have rights to opt out as described below.
Relationship with Shopify
The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your access to and use of the Services in order to provide and improve the Services. Information you submit to the Services will be transmitted to and shared with Shopify and relevant third parties, which may be located in countries other than where you reside.
To help protect, grow, and improve our business, we may use Shopify features that incorporate data obtained from your interactions with this store, other merchants, and Shopify. In some circumstances Shopify is independently responsible for processing personal information and responding to requests relating to Shopify's own processing. You can review Shopify's Consumer Privacy Policy and use the Shopify Privacy Portal through the privacy links made available by Shopify or at privacy.shopify.com.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. These technologies may support essential storefront and checkout operations, preferences, analytics, customer support, email and SMS measurement, advertising, and personalization. Where required, non-essential technologies are used only after consent. You can manage preferences through the Shopify cookie banner or Cookie Preferences controls where displayed.
Third Party Websites and Links
The Services may provide links to websites or online platforms operated by third parties. If you follow a link to a site not affiliated with or controlled by us, review that third party's privacy, security, and terms. We do not guarantee and are not responsible for the privacy, security, accuracy, completeness, or reliability of third-party sites. Information shared in public or semi-public venues, including social platforms, may be visible and used by others. Including a link does not by itself imply endorsement.
Children's Data
The Services are not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of majority applicable in their jurisdiction. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information, contact us to request deletion where appropriate. We do not knowingly sell or share, as those terms may be defined by applicable law, personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.
Security of Your Information
We use reasonable administrative, organizational, technical, and contractual safeguards appropriate to the nature of the personal information and the risks involved. No security measure is perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Information sent through insecure channels may be exposed in transit. Do not send sensitive or confidential information through an insecure method when a safer method is available.
Retention of Your Information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, to maintain accounts, provide the Services, comply with legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, manage chargebacks, prevent fraud, or enforce contracts and policies. Retention may include:
- Order, payment, invoice, tax, and core accounting records: generally 7 years where required for Dutch tax and accounting obligations;
- Customer-service, return, complaint, and support records: generally 2 years after closure, or longer where necessary for an active dispute, chargeback, legal claim, fraud investigation, or legal obligation;
- Account information: while the account remains active and generally up to 2 years after prolonged inactivity, unless earlier deletion is requested and legally possible;
- Marketing and consent records: while consent or another valid basis remains in effect, until you unsubscribe or object, plus minimal suppression information needed to honour the opt-out;
- Security-incident and breach records: at least 24 months where Canadian privacy law requires such records, and longer if needed for another legal requirement;
- Analytics and cookie information: according to the duration shown in the Cookie Policy or provider settings; and
- Legal, dispute, fraud, and chargeback information: for the applicable limitation period and as long as reasonably required to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
At the end of the applicable period, information is deleted, anonymized, or securely destroyed unless continued retention is legally required.
International Transfers
We may transfer, store, and process personal information outside the country where you live, including in the Netherlands, other countries in the European Economic Area, Canada, the United States, China, and other countries where Shopify, payment providers, suppliers, carriers, support providers, and technology providers operate.
When personal information is transferred outside the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we rely on recognized safeguards where required, such as adequacy decisions, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or equivalent mechanisms, together with supplementary safeguards where appropriate.
Personal information transferred across Canadian provincial or national borders in the course of commercial activities may be subject to Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and processing within Alberta, British Columbia, Québec, or another jurisdiction may also be subject to applicable provincial privacy law.

Managing Communication Preferences
You may unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time through the unsubscribe link in the email. You may opt out of promotional SMS messages using the instructions in the message, such as replying STOP where supported. After opting out, we may still send non-promotional communications concerning orders, accounts, security, returns, or legal matters.
Exercising Your Rights
You may exercise rights by contacting hello@kindwalks.com or by using privacy controls made available through the Services. We may need to verify your identity and request information reasonably necessary to process the request. Where legally permitted, an authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf, but we may require proof of authorization and direct identity verification.
We will respond within the period required by applicable law. A request may be refused or limited where an exemption applies, but we will explain the reason where legally required. We do not ordinarily charge for a request, although a reasonable fee may be charged where permitted by law for manifestly unfounded, repetitive, or excessive requests.
Complaints
If you have a complaint about how we process personal information, contact us first at hello@kindwalks.com so we can investigate. Depending on where you live, you may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, an applicable provincial privacy authority, the Dutch Data Protection Authority, or another competent supervisory authority.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will post the revised policy on the website, update the "Last updated" date, and provide additional notice where required by law.
